Senior Manager / Director of Tax (d/o/e)
Job Description:
The Senior Manager / Director of Tax is responsible for the general tax accounting activities of the Company in accordance with GAAP including month-end-close and financial reporting, filing annual federal and state income tax returns, monthly/quarterly transaction tax returns, annual property tax returns and Secretary of State filings.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain tax and regulatory compliance with local, state, national and international jurisdictions, including state, local and U.S. tax returns; sales and use tax; real and property tax; international VAT; and international transfer pricing
- Federal, state and international tax planning
- Preparation of quarterly income tax provisions in accordance with ASC 740
- Develop and maintain SOX controls and processes related to tax
- Ensure timely reporting of all tax and regulatory filings with the appropriate local, state and federal authorities (quarterly income tax estimates, annual income tax extensions and income tax returns)
- Prepare federal and state R&D tax credit calculations
- Maintain and assess uncertain tax positions under FIN48
- Maintain IRC section 382 study detail
- Perform monthly tax close processes including journal entries and account reconciliations
- File monthly / quarterly transaction tax returns (sales / use tax)
- File annual property tax returns
- File annual reports with the Secretary of State offices
- Manage income tax audits as necessary
Requirements:
- B.S. / B.A. in accounting or finance and CPA required, Master’s in Taxation a plus 10 years’ progressive experience in tax
Preferred Skills, Qualifications, or Technical Proficiencies:
- Demonstrated experience preparing U.S. GAAP tax provision and SOX
- Detailed knowledge of GAAP and SEC reporting requirements related to income taxes and related disclosures
- Detailed knowledge of income tax return filing requirements in a multistate reporting environment
- Tax research skills
- Knowledge of accounting software
- Proficient in MS Office
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
