Translational Scientist/Principal Scientist, Oncology

Job Description:

Work cross-functionally and interact closely with both the clinical and nonclinical research groups within Corcept. The role is responsible for designing experiments, drafting and implementing protocols, executing studies, organizing data, analyzing results, and drafting technical reports or tech transfer documents.


  • Develop and implement biomarker and diagnostic strategies and ensure alignment of nonclinical and companion diagnostic development milestones with clinical milestones
  • Implement studies and strategies that demonstrate the potential clinical utility through pertinent in vivo and in vitro studies.
  • Design, implementation and oversight of biomarker and diagnostic testing in clinical studies.
  • Conduct data analysis for biomarkers exploring the mechanism of action, therapeutic strategies, and elucidating translational correlates predictive of therapeutic response
  • Provide regular research progress report(s), both written and oral, and manuscript generation as appropriate
  • Point of contact providing expert scientific advice related to biomarker sample collection, storage and sample and data analysis to other functions (e.g. Contracts, Clinical Operations, Data Management) to facilitate their interactions with internal and external laboratories.
  • Prepare and review biomarker and companion diagnostic sections of clinical protocols, ICFs, lab manuals, and clinical study reports


  • Doctorate degree in relevant field (immunology, molecular biology, cancer genetics, cancer biology, molecular oncology, signaling)
  • 4 years of basic or translational research experience

Preferred Skills, Qualifications, or Technical Proficiencies:

  • Two years’ experience in targeted drug discovery or clinical assay development pertaining to oncology. Experience in immuno-oncology is preferred.
  • A strong background in tumor biology and cancer genomics, preclinical biomarker discovery/validation, and implementing biomarker assays in a clinical trial setting
  • Experience in drug and/or diagnostic device development
  • Outstanding communication skills including both oral and written presentation
  • Strong motivation, attention to detail, ability to think independently and fully integrate into a high achieving team environment
